Production 2- Interview Questions

I have created a list of questions to ask the chef when I conduct my interview. These questions are basic points and topics I want to ensure I include in my feature article. The majority of the questions are somewhat open ended and allow for long, thought-out answers. I am hoping these questions will spark stories or memories that can be incorporated in the article to convey the message I am trying to get across to my audience. When I interview the chef I will also be taking all of the pictures I will be using in my magazine, as well as the measurements and ingredients that will be listed. The thought occurred to me to also include any needed utensils or kitchen tools that are used to make the recipe. Once I have the rest of the article laid out I will add the utensils to the feature article if there are any. While I am waiting to conduct the interview I will continue working on the contents page. The interview questions I have constructed are listed below. Do you have an emotiona...

Production 1- Setting Up InDesign

The past few days I set up my layout in InDesign with all the pages and the correct sizing. I also laid out the masthead, selling line, and the cover lines in their respective place based off of my storyboard. All the text is in the font it will be in for the final draft. The masthead will still be in Copperplate Gothic Bold. The selling line will be in Copperplate Gothic Light. The cover lines will be in Rockwell and the other articles on the contents page will be in Ink Free. I like working with InDesign because it allows me to move and manipulate different pieces of text to get them to look exactly like I envisioned them to. InDesign had tools that made it easy to create a barcode for the cover page of my magazine. I simply copied and pasted rectangles I had made with the Rectangle Tool. I believe my next step will be to contact the chef I am interviewing. While I wait on a response from them, I will begin to create the map I will be using on my content page. If they respond qu...

Storyboard

Image
Based  off  my experience with creating my storyboard, I believe that  deciding on what font each piece of text was in was the most challenging. It was hard to be certain how each font would play  off  each other until everything was in a respective font . I like the way the fonts on my storyboard go together .   T he only way these fonts  will  change in my final product  is if I find a font that I like better than what I have now.  I did in fact switch the font of the feature article and contents page. In my preliminary layout I had them as Arial Nova.  Currently my feature article  and my contents page will be in Rockwell. The other articles on the cover and contents page will be in Ink Free.  After playing around with multiple fonts I decided on these because they flow  together,  and it keeps the page from looking chopped  up.  By creating this storyboard based off how I thought this magazin...

Preliminary Layout

This chart is the preliminary layout of my magazine. Although things are laid out below, as I begin to put this magazine together small aspects of the magazine may change, such as the fonts. Master  head :    G rowing Gourmet    Main Image: Vibrant colored foo d will be  nicely prepared / plated .  The  picture will  be  taken from above the dish,  preferably  with a dark, solid colored background to bring out the colors in the  dish. The dish is the  focus , other texts or  sub articles  will be listed around the food.  If the background is darker the text will be a lighter color that matches a shade of color in the food.  If the background is a lighter color the text will be  a darker color that matches a shade of color in the dish pictured.    Selling line :  Different dish, different story   Typography/ font :   Font will be   Arial Nova  for featur...

Peer Pitch & Concept Refinement Chart

Fall 2020   CATEGORY   DETAILS   Film OR Magazine   Magazine   Genre   Food and Culture   Target Audience (Be specific)   Young people interested in cleaner and healthier dietary foods as well as immersing themselves in cultures opposing their own.   What is your concept? (Be thorough & specific. Review the links on Blackboard)   My concept is a magazine that includes articles regarding different types of food from all over the world that appeals to people from all backgrounds. Each issue will be focused on a specific meal prepared with ingredients from a specific region or country. Issues will entail interviews with locals where they share a recipe/meal specific to their culture.   How did you conceive the idea for this concept?   I started off with the broad topic of food. Then I realized I have an interest in eating healthy. The idea of creating a magazine based off healthy eating arose. I also recently watched  Dow...
